Here are a couple of pics of my current Bay window project.......

It's 1973 Adventurewagen camper originally. I decided on needing more reliable towing power than the conventional 2.0 could deliver.........Many of my club members know i like challenges.....so...... I decided on it becoming watercooled........ Shocked
I installed a 2.8 Chevrolet V6, mated to a regeared 091 bus tranny.....rear fenders are reworked to clear tires and look like they are factory.......4" lift on the bus to fit the taller tires required.....The front grill is original Vw from a Mexican watercooled Vw Baywindow bus....

As before, it's a camper........ when finished it will have fridge, microwave oven, sink, dropdown DVD/Tv, and many other cool changes...... Cool

Note, The roof is not painted yet........I placed it on to get some measurements....It will be sprayed with white Bedliner when finished... Cool

WOW! I used to read a lot about Adventure wagen.
It's look like Bay from Brazil Smile
They have a big front grill.

BTW, Welcome to the site!

Awesome!! I don't know how I missed this earlier.
I would love to see more photos of the engine and install if you have them. At some car shows lately I've seen all types of engines other than VW installed into our rides to give them more modern power.

Whatever works and looks clean I always say. Have FUN and Enjoy the ride!

More pics and details requested!!

Here is another custom chevy powered panel. Guy bought the chevy engine off ebay for $300.00 and put it in himself.

and Here's something else cool.. Beetle Camper!

Very Cool Alternative Rides Indeed.

Hey chris,

Yeah,,,,, I'm the weird child .............I am a Vw purist in some aspects and yet i like to be creative also.................The bus was purchased for $200 and needed going through............. The 2.0 that was in it was in boxes.........needing complete rebuild............so i thought for the same price of a good type 4 rebuild i'd try something different and get more reliable HP............... Very Happy

Here is the complete buildup as it's ongoing.... Cool

http://www.shoptalkforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=99299

Here is my project so far:
http://s71.photobucket.com/albums/i160/Fastmc25/Adventurewagen%20Baja/

I love the design and buildup involved with these projects............usually i get bored when it's completed though............ Shocked

When it's finished it i'll probably remove the engine and install a VR6 from a Passat or something ....... Just to keep it Vw...... Shocked

I took Clyde on a trip to south central Texas last month to the Texas Vw Classic.... I logged over 1200 miles round trip and had a blast...... I won "Peoples Choice" and they named him " King Of the Road"... Laughing

Mike "ItLives" came by yesterday to tryout my new Airconditioning setup i have...... we sat in the van and had a couple of beers while watching a video...... Laughing

It's been a awhile since i've posted anything with Clyde... Shocked

I installed my new 65watt panel today....... It's a BP365J from BP solar.... I have a Morningstar SunSaver 10amp controller installed to direct the power... It was a very easy install..... Not too pricey... for what it is...

This system will power anything i have onboard Clyde from the Vitrofridge refridgerator to the 3 speed ceiling fan on hot days... all while have plenty of reserve power to recharge both my onboard batteries...

I 've been wanting to do this for a few years and finally wen ahead and did it... I hope you all get to try this some day...

Paul.
That looks like a very clean install... congrats. You know how much I love the details and this looks good.

They need to make a curved transparent one for the back window of a VW bug.. lol...
